Dr. Lee Quo-Wei, the founder of Wei Lun Foundation Ltd which donated to Ho Leung Ho Lee Foundation, is the Honorary Chairman of Hang Seng Bank Ltd in Hong Kong. He holds directorships in listed companies such as Miramar Hotel and Investment Company Limited, New World Development Company Limited, Shaw Brothers (Hong Kong) Limited and Shanghai Industrial Holdings Limited.

Dr. Lee is well-known for his active involvement in public service. He has been Treasurer of The Chinese University of Hong Kong from 1963 to 1982, the Chairman of the Council of the University from 1982 to 1997 and a Life Member of the Council of the University since 30 November 1994.He is the Founding Chairman of the Li Po Chun United World College of Hong Kong and now its Honorary Chairman and also the Chaiman of the United World Colleges-Hong Kong National Committee, Honorary Chairman of the Board of Directors of Hang Seng School of Commerce, a member of the Court of The University of Hong Kong, the Honorary President of Jiangmen's Wuyi University and member of the Advisory Council of the Business and Professionals Federation of Hong Kong.

He was a member of the Executive Council in Hong Kong for 7 years and a member of the Legislative Council for 10 years. He was also a member of the Banking Advisory Committee for 14 years, Chairman of the Board of Education for 7 years and Chairman of the Education Commission for 5 years.
Several universities in Hong Kong and overseas have conferred Honorary Doctorate Degrees on Dr. Lee, including The Chinese University of Hong Kong in 1972, University of Hull (United Kingdom) in 1985, University of Birmingham (United Kingdom) in 1989, University of Hong Kong in 1990, City Polytechnic of Hong Kong (presently known as the City University of Hong Kong) in 1990, Hong Kong Polytechnic (now the Hong Kong Polytechnic University) in 1992, Hong Kong Baptist College (now the Hong Kong Baptist University) in 1992, London Guildhall University (United Kingdom) in 1993 and Tsinghua University (China) in 1995. Dr. Lee was also elected to a fellowship of the Chartered Institute of Bankers, London in 1971 as well as honorary fellowships of St. Hughs College, Oxford University; Royal College of Physicians of Edinburgh; Hong Kong College of Cardiology; and Hong Kong College of Physicians in 1991,1993,1995 and 1996 respectively. In 1993, he was made an Honorary Citizen of Guangzhou, Kai Ping and Jiangmen by the three municipal governments. In the 1994 South China Morning Post/DHL Hong Kong Business Awards, he was awarded Businessman of the Year. Dr. Lee has been engaged Honorary President of China Senior Professors Association since 1995 and was awarded the Grand Bauhinia Medal by the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government in July 1997.
Over the years, Dr. Lee has donated generously to his homeland Kaiping, helping to improve infrastructure, education and medical services. He has also made significant contributions to Jiangmens Wuyi University. In recent years, he has also made donations to Beijings Tsinghua University, and other institutions in the cities of Shanghai and Guangzhou.
